About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Static) role at Mekdam Technical Services is a pivotal position that requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, particularly in the context of Static equipment used in the Oil & Gas industry. This role is key to ensuring that projects are executed with precision, adherence to safety standards, and within the stipulated timeframe. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality results across various phases of project execution.

Day-to-day, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for managing multiple projects concurrently, each with its unique challenges and requirements. This includes participating in concept development, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning (EPIC), and providing technical support to site or plant operations. The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain a high level of quality in deliverables is crucial.

Given the remote nature of this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will need to be highly self-motivated, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain seamless collaboration with the team and stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and manage project schedules and resource allocation plans to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct detailed mechanical engineering designs and analysis for Static equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and codes.
  • Manage and coordinate the review and approval of design documents and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve project-related issues and improve project outcomes.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and project updates to management and clients.
  • Ensure that all engineering activities are conducted in accordance with the company's quality management system.
  • Participate in hazard and risk assessments to identify potential safety risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Develop and manage budgets for projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, suggesting improvements to processes and procedures that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

What We Are Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered or Professional Engineer status, or the ability to obtain it, is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant post-graduate experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with a focus on Static equipment.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Strong technical competency in a broad range of Static equipment and packages used in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Experience working on onshore, offshore, greenfield, and brownfield projects.
  • Fluency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in conducting presentations and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
