About the Role
The Lead Software Engineer role at Walgreens is a remote opportunity that requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills. As a key member of the digital team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing software applications that drive business growth and improve customer experience. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test software systems, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.The role entails day-to-day responsibilities such as planning, designing, and developing software systems, as well as mentoring junior team members and providing technical guidance. You will also be responsible for breaking down large requests into sub-tasks, providing higher-level status updates, and writing test plans. As a lead engineer, you will own a functional area and be responsible for setting measurable goals and meeting them.

What You Will Do
- Plan, design, develop, and test software systems and applications for software enhancements and new products
- Write code that establishes and enhances coding specifications for software programs and systems
- Deliver software features with exceptional quality, meeting designated release plans and delivery commitments
- Work on problems of diverse scope, analyzing data and evaluating identifiable factors to obtain solutions
- Guide the daily work of assigned team members and provide technical guidance and mentorship
- Recommend modifications to daily operations and make needed adjustments to short-term priorities
- Own a functional area and break down large requests into sub-tasks
- Write test plans and take operational responsibility for software systems
- Set measurable goals and meet them, reviewing code changes and providing feedback to team members
- Network with senior internal and external personnel in your area of expertise
- Interact with direct team members, peers, and managers in other teams, as well as vendors and customers
- Design specifications for assigned projects and lead implementation efforts
- Develop and keep the vision of the project, leading others towards its completion
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Experience working in an Agile environment with expertise in MERN stack development using ReactJS, Redux, NodeJS, ExpressJS, and MongoDB
- Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with Restful web services using NodeJS and ExpressJS
- Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MySQL and MongoDB
- DevOps experience with prior experience in leading a group of automation/DevOps or development engineering team
- Experience in deployment automation for various applications on IaaS, PaaS platforms, and large complex systems
- Strong understanding of infrastructure components, including databases, networking, DNS, cloud services, and containerization
- Experience working on Kubernetes platform on a microservices architecture with high traffic applications
- Web/backend development experience with expertise in operationalizing high traffic web and mobile applications

- Experience with cloud-based applications and data analysis
