Job Description

About the Role

The Account Director, Digital Natives Growth, plays a pivotal role in Openai's mission to build safe artificial general intelligence (AGI) that benefits humanity. This role is embedded within the Go To Market (GTM) team, which is responsible for helping customers learn how to leverage and deploy Openai's highly capable AI products across their business. The GTM team is a multidisciplinary unit comprising Sales, Solutions, Support, Marketing, and Partnership professionals who work together to create valuable solutions that bring AI to as many users as possible.

As an Account Director, you will be the key driver of opportunities through the entire sales cycle, from pipeline generation to closure. You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and solution strategists to help customers evolve their industry with AI. This role is based in San Francisco, CA, and utilizes a hybrid work model, with 3 days in the office per week, and relocation assistance is offered to new employees.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, developing and executing comprehensive account plans.
  • Support customer accounts from initial engagement through to successful deployment, expansion, and renewal.
  • Develop new and existing accounts through pipeline generation, discovery, evaluation, and successful adoption.
  • Partner with solutions and research engineering to build and execute complex customer programs and projects.
  • Own a revenue target and manage revenue forecasts.
  • Analyze key account metrics to create reports and provide insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Closely monitor the industry landscape to contribute to the product roadmap and other corporate strategies.
  • Collaborate with various teams, including solutions, marketing, communications, business operations, people operations, finance, product management, and engineering.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of other teammates.
  • Contribute to the development of company culture.

What We Are Looking For

  • 9+ years of experience selling and renewing platform-as-a-service and/or software-as-a-service.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing customer relationships across the full lifecycle.
  • Experience in developing accounts from early sales stages through successful deployment.
  • Ability to design and execute complex deal strategies.
  • Experience working directly with C-level executives.
  • Strong technical understanding and the ability to communicate technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather, distill, and process complex market, industry, competitor, customer, and prospect intelligence.
  • Customer-centric approach, with a motivation to deeply understand customer priorities and help them achieve their vision.
