About the Role

The Account Director position at Openai represents a pivotal role in the company's mission to safely deploy artificial general intelligence that benefits humanity. As a key member of the Go To Market (GTM) team, this role is centered around helping customers leverage Openai's cutting-edge AI products to drive business innovation. The ideal candidate will have a unique blend of technical understanding, strategic vision, and partnership-building skills, allowing them to navigate complex sales cycles and build strong relationships with c-level executives and professionals across various functions.

The GTM team at Openai is a dynamic ensemble of sales, solutions, support, marketing, and partnership professionals working together to create and deploy valuable solutions that bring AI to as many users as possible. This role, based in Tokyo, offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid model, balancing in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work, and is supported by relocation assistance for new employees.

What You Will Do

  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, focusing on digital natives and startups in Japan.
  • Lead enterprise prospects through the entire sales cycle, from initial consideration to successful deployment of Openai's AI solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with solutions and research engineering teams to develop and execute complex customer programs and projects.
  • Own and drive consumption revenue targets, analyzing opportunity metrics to provide insightful reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor the industry landscape, including competitors, partners, and market trends, to contribute to product roadmap and corporate strategies.
  • Work in tandem with various departments, including solutions, marketing, communications, business operations, people operations, finance, product management, and engineering.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of new team members, contributing to the development of company culture.
  • Gather, distill, and process complex market intelligence to inform sales strategies and customer engagements.
  • Lead high-visibility customer events, such as customer advisory boards, conferences, and product launches.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in selling platform-as-a-service and/or software-as-a-service, with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets exceeding
    million per year for more than three years.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and executing complex sales cycles with enterprise customers, particularly in the digital natives and startups sector.
  • Experience in closing deals with fast-growing, high-performance companies and working directly with c-level executives.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders effectively.
  • Skill in leading high-visibility customer events and gathering, distilling, and processing complex market intelligence.
  • A customer-centric approach, with a passion for understanding customer priorities and helping them achieve their vision through AI solutions.
  • A deep curiosity or passion for artificial intelligence and its applications in business.
  • Experience in a builder role, with a focus on building strong systems and processes from the ground up and executing them with precision.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to plan forward and bring internal and external stakeholders along with the strategy.

  • Fluency in Japanese, given the role's location and focus on the Japanese market.
