Job Description

About the Role

The Account Director, Insurance, plays a pivotal role in Openai's Go To Market (GTM) team, focusing on helping leading Insurance organizations leverage and deploy Openai's AI products effectively across their business. This involves developing and maintaining executive-level relationships, understanding the complex needs of these organizations, and collaborating with various teams to design and deploy secure, compliant, and impactful AI solutions. The role is based in New York City and operates on a hybrid work model, with three days in the office per week.

The GTM team is a dynamic and interdisciplinary group comprising Sales, Solutions, Support, Marketing, and Partnership professionals. Together, they work towards creating valuable solutions that bring AI to as many users as possible. As part of this team, the Account Director will be instrumental in guiding Insurance companies in safely and effectively deploying Openai's technology to accelerate financial data analysis, automate backend operations, drive AI-powered research, and personalize customer engagement.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a focused portfolio of Financial Services, specifically Insurance accounts, developing long-term strategic account plans.
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles to achieve revenue and consumption targets.
  • Partner with solutions and research engineering teams to design pilots that demonstrate measurable business impact.
  • Collaborate with compliance, privacy, and security teams to ensure responsible deployment of AI in regulated environments.
  • Own a revenue and consumption target; manage forecasts and pipeline reporting.
  • Monitor industry and regulatory trends to guide customer and product strategy.
  • Represent Openai at industry conferences and thought-leadership events.
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, and communications to build the Financial Services go-to-market motion.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Openai's products and their applications in the Insurance sector.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI and their potential to transform the financial services industry.

What We Are Looking For

  • 14+ total years selling complex enterprise software or platform-as-a-service solutions.
  • 4+ years selling to Financial Insurance organizations, with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience managing C-suite relationships and navigating complex sales cycles.
  • Strong understanding of financial services workflows and the regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex deal and partnership strategies.
  • Customer-centric approach with the ability to translate complex business needs into transformative AI solutions.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to anticipate industry shifts and guide enterprise customers through them.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and levels of the organization.
