The Account Director, Large Enterprise | Healthcare & Life Sciences role at OpenAI is a unique opportunity for a seasoned sales professional to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare and life sciences industry. As a key member of the Go To Market team, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic account plans, fostering executive-level relationships, and driving revenue growth. As an Account Director, you will be an integral part of this team, working closely with colleagues to design and deliver AI-powered solutions that meet the unique needs of healthcare and life sciences organizations. Your success will be measured by your ability to drive revenue growth, expand OpenAI's presence in the market, and build long-term relationships with key customers.
What You Will Do
- Manage a focused portfolio of healthcare, large pharmaceutical, and life sciences accounts, developing strategic account plans and driving revenue growth
- Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles, working closely with R&D, medical, regulatory, and commercial teams to identify and address customer needs
- Partner with solutions and research engineering teams to design pilots and proof-of-concepts that demonstrate measurable business and scientific impact
- Collaborate with compliance, privacy, and security teams to ensure responsible deployment of AI in regulated environments
- Own revenue and consumption targets, managing forecasts and pipeline reporting to drive business growth
- Monitor industry and regulatory trends, staying up-to-date on developments in areas such as FDA and EMA regulations
- Represent OpenAI at industry conferences and thought-leadership events, showcasing the company's expertise and capabilities
- Partner cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, and communications teams to build the HLS go-to-market motion
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the healthcare and life sciences industry, including its unique challenges, opportunities, and regulatory requirements
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging your network and expertise to drive growth and expansion
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of experience selling complex enterprise software or platform-as-a-service solutions to healthcare or life sciences customers
- Proven track record of achieving annual revenue targets in excess of $2M+ in regulated industries
- Strong understanding of healthcare and life sciences workflows, including drug discovery, clinical trials, regulatory submissions, and market access
- Experience managing C-suite relationships across R&D, IT, medical, and commercial teams
- Familiarity with data privacy, compliance, and security considerations in healthcare, including HIPAA and GxP regulations
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex deal and partnership strategies
- Strong scientific literacy and technical depth, with a deep understanding of AI and machine learning technologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and executive-level customers
- Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of the healthcare and life sciences industry and its unique challenges and opportunities
Nice to Have
- Experience working with AI or machine learning technologies in a healthcare or life sciences context
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and solutions, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
