About the Role
The Account Director, Public Sector role at OpenAI represents a unique convergence of technology, strategy, and vision. As a key member of the Go-To-Market team, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies aimed at the public sector in Tokyo, Japan. This role is about more than just sales; it's about understanding the deep impact that highly capable AI models can have on businesses and users, and helping them navigate this transformative journey.The role is based in Tokyo and operates on a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days of in-office work per week. What You Will Do
- Manage a dozen key accounts, developing and executing strategies for comprehensive account plans.
- Lead enterprise prospects through their journey from consideration to successful deployment.
- Partner with solutions and research engineering to build and execute complex customer programs and projects.
- Own and manage a consumption revenue target.
- Analyze key account metrics to create reports and provide insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Closely monitor the industry landscape to contribute to product roadmaps and other corporate strategies.
- Collaborate with various teams including solutions, marketing, communications, business operations, people operations, finance, product management, and engineering.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of other teammates.
- Contribute to the development of company culture.
What We Are Looking For
- 7+ years of experience selling platform-as-a-service and/or software-as-a-service.
- A proven track record of achieving revenue targets over M per year for more than 3 years.
- Experience designing and executing complex deal strategies.
- Background in supporting the growth of fast-growing, high-performance companies.
- Direct experience working with C-level executives.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders effectively.
- Experience leading high-visibility customer events.
- Strong skills in gathering, distilling, and processing complex market intelligence.

- Proficiency in both Japanese and English, essential for partnering with customers and driving the sales cycle.
