About the Role
The Account Director, Startups position at OpenAI is a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technology and drive its adoption among startups. As a key member of the Go To Market team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of startup accounts, developing comprehensive account plans, and partnering with solutions architects to drive technical engagements. Your day-to-day will involve working closely with startup founders and executives to understand their needs, providing strategic guidance on AI adoption, and ensuring that OpenAI's products and services meet their requirements.The role is based in London, UK, and offers a hybrid work model, with three days in the office per week. As an Account Director, you will be part of a team that is passionate about harnessing the power of AI to drive innovation and growth. You will have the opportunity to work with a range of startups, from early-stage companies to those that are scaling rapidly, and will be responsible for ensuring that OpenAI's products and services meet their evolving needs.
What You Will Do
- Manage a portfolio of startup accounts, developing and executing comprehensive account plans
- Partner with solutions architects to drive technical engagements with startups
- Own a consumption revenue target and manage consumption revenue forecasts
- Analyze key account metrics to create reports and provide insights to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including solutions, marketing, communications, business operations, people operations, finance, product management, and engineering
- Serve as an advocate for improving the startup experience building with OpenAI
- Synthesize product feedback from insights captured from work with startups
- Closely monitor the industry landscape and startup landscape and contribute to corporate strategies
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of other teammates
- Support the development of company culture
What We Are Looking For
- 6+ years of experience selling platform-as-a-service, cloud, or other API products
- Experience working in or around the startup ecosystem, preferably as either a founder of a startup, an employee of a startup, or someone who worked with startup customers
- Supporting the growth and product development of fast-growing, high-performance companies
- Working directly with C-level executives and startup founders
- Communicating technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders
- Gathering, distilling, and processing complex market intelligence
- Strong understanding of AI and its applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Knowledge of the AI and machine learning landscape
