About the Role

The Account Executive role at Orkes is a unique opportunity for a highly driven and accomplished sales professional to join a rapidly growing company. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic sales plan to target mid-market accounts, building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, and driving revenue growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and customer success, to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to sales and customer engagement.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, prospecting, networking, and cold outreach to build a strong pipeline of potential customers. You will also collaborate with the revenue leadership team to move deals from verbal to close, track daily sales activities, and maintain accurate records in the company's CRM system.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and cold outreach
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to target mid-market accounts
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, key decision-makers, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and customer success, to drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction
  • Focus on forecasting accurately and maintaining favorable coverage across commit, best-case, and most-likely for the current quarter
  • Obsess over compressing sales cycles and obtaining early verbal commitments from customers
  • Work with Orkes revenue leadership to move deals from verbal to close within the forecast
  • Track daily sales activities and maintain CRM hygiene by accurately capturing required details
  • Consistently follow the MEDDPICC sales methodology and develop close plans for opportunities within the current quarter forecast
  • Execute sales plays defined by the Orkes leadership team to develop the right customer opportunities
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform sales strategies and tactics
  • Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets and KPIs to drive company growth and revenue

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in a sales and/or business development role within a high-growth organization, preferably with startups that achieved growth across their open-source install base
  • Outstanding communication skills, including both phone and written communication, as well as active listening
  • A self-starter with a record of overachieving against quota, along with an incredibly high activity rate and constant obsession with attaining monthly and quarterly budget
  • Rigorous sales methodology and sales process knowledge, proven by accurate forecasts and clear communication throughout the deal cycle
  • Experience selling to developers as well as engineering leadership
  • Strong understanding of the sales process, including strategy, lead generation, business closing, and relationship nurturing
  • Ability to learn deeply about customer needs, Orkes products, and connect the dots to drive sales growth
  • Experience working with CRM systems and sales tools to track sales activities and maintain accurate records

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience selling commercial services or products based on an open-source developer platform
  • Comfortable speaking about workflows, microservices, containers, serverless, and other technical topics
  • Strong ability to articulate and educate customers on the value of Orkes' platform and services
  • Experience with sales methodologies, such as MEDDPICC, and the ability to apply them in a sales context
