Job Description
About the Role
The Account Manager Construction role at Fortive is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of construction procurement and project management. As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for providing support and training to clients on Gordian's construction data and software, with a focus on Job Order Contracting (JOC). Your expertise will help clients maximize efficiency, optimize cost savings, and increase construction quality.The role entails working closely with clients, internal team members, and construction management firms to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget. You will be managing multiple accounts, developing positive working relationships with customers, and driving client retention, renewals, and upsells. Your day-to-day activities will include preparing and maintaining schedules, implementing project procedures, and ensuring contract compliance.
As a key member of the team, you will work closely with Project Managers and Account Managers on operational processes, including contract renewals, troubleshooting, and software training. Your ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and internal team members will be essential in ensuring projects are completed successfully.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and maintain schedules of detailed activities to accomplish procurement objectives within a specified time period for clients
- Implement and adhere to project procedures from project identification to construction execution
- Read and understand construction plans and specifications, with a depth of knowledge in conducting a comprehensive price proposal review
- Train contractors in Gordian software, client procedure, and assist in client contract bidding
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and internal team members to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
- Manage multiple accounts and develop positive working relationships with customers
- Drive client retention, renewals, and upsells, and ensure client satisfaction
- Work closely with Project Managers and Account Managers on day-to-day operational processes
- Troubleshoot issues and provide software training to client and contractor staff
- Participate in budget development and management, revenue forecasting, and annual program usage and benchmark reporting
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or comparable work experience
- 5+ years of construction procurement, construction management, project management, or general contracting related experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience in public construction operations, pricing, and contracting, including scope development and estimating/price proposal development
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Experience with Excel and construction software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Gordian software and Job Order Contracting (JOC)
- Knowledge of construction management firms and their operations
- Familiarity with budget development and management, revenue forecasting, and annual program usage and benchmark reporting
- Certification in construction management or a related field
