Job Description

## About the Role The Account Manager - SMB role at Plaid is a critical position that involves managing and growing the company's relationships with high-growth small to medium-sized business (SMB) customers. This role is ideal for customer-facing professionals who have a passion for building strong partnerships, driving revenue growth, and developing tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of each customer. As an Account Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for your portfolio of customers, working closely with them to integrate and launch Plaid's products, and providing ongoing support to ensure their success.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the financial services industry, as well as the technical skills to navigate Plaid's APIs and other tools. They will be a creative problem-solver, able to think outside the box to address complex customer challenges and develop innovative solutions. With a strong focus on customer satisfaction and revenue growth, this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on the company's bottom line and contribute to the development of new products and services.

## What You Will Do - Own the overall relationship with your portfolio of SMB customers, building strong partnerships and driving revenue growth - Develop a deep understanding of each customer's priorities, motives, and key drivers, and use this knowledge to develop tailored solutions - Work closely with customers to integrate and launch Plaid's products, providing ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed - Identify and close new upsell opportunities, leading commercial negotiations for contract renewals and expansions - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, risk, legal, finance, commercial, marketing, and business operations, to drive growth and innovation - Provide creative solutions to complex customer challenges, thinking outside the box to address unique needs and develop innovative solutions - Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Plaid's products and services, including APIs and other technical tools - Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments, using this knowledge to inform customer interactions and drive growth - Build relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, product teams, and developers, to drive growth and satisfaction - Work with customers to develop and implement customized solutions, using data and analytics to inform decision-making

## What We Are Looking For - 2-4 years of demonstrated relationship management and sales experience, preferably in the financial services or technology industries - Customer empathy and a deep desire to see customers succeed, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and revenue growth - Desire to get technical and the ability to learn the ins and outs of Plaid's APIs and other tools - Some familiarity with financial services and technical products, with a high degree of intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning - Excitement to work in a high-growth, ever-changing environment, with the ability to adapt to new challenges and opportunities - Ability to work with all types of people and build long-lasting relationships, with strong communication and interpersonal skills - Strong sales experience, with a focus on negotiation and value-selling - Executive-level communication skills, with the ability to write and speak effectively to senior stakeholders - Relationship-building skills, with the ability to leverage internal and external executives, product teams, and other stakeholders
