About the Role

The Accounting Intern will play a key role in supporting the finance and accounting team at Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and organized individual to gain hands-on experience in accounts payable, financial close processes, and document management. The successful candidate will be working closely with the finance team to ensure the timely and accurate completion of financial tasks and will have the opportunity to develop their skills in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What You Will Do

  • Support the migration and organization of financial and operational files into SharePoint, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation
  • Assist with accounts payable operations, including data entry and review of employee expense reports for accuracy and compliance
  • Contribute to account reconciliations and financial close processes, gaining hands-on experience in month-end and financial close procedures
  • Manage unclaimed property activities, including tracking, documentation, and compliance support
  • Facilitate new vendor setup by entering and verifying vendor information to ensure accurate and timely payments
  • Maintain accurate vendor tax records through W-9 entry and validation
  • Organize and distribute customer statements by sorting and preparing statements for email and mail delivery
  • Review and update statement email distribution lists to ensure accuracy and remove inactive or outdated customers
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team as needed
  • Collaborate with the finance team to identify areas for process improvements and implement changes as necessary
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company's financial systems and processes

What We Are Looking For

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Ability to multitask, with strong time management and attention to detail skills
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally and effectively through written and oral communication with current and potential clients
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
