About the Role
As an Accounting Supervisor at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be responsible for leading the daily financial activities of the team, ensuring accurate reporting, and developing a team of skilled accounting professionals. You will also be responsible for accounting for fixed assets and internally developed software, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain strong internal controls.

What You Will Do
- Oversee daily financial activities, including month-end accounting responsibilities
- Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with US GAAP and SOX requirements
- Develop and lead a team of skilled accounting professionals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain strong internal controls
- Account for fixed assets and internally developed software
- Prepare balance sheet rollforward schedules and perform account analysis and variance reviews
- Complete account reconciliations and posting of journal entries
- Support process improvements through the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and internal stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide training and guidance to team members as needed
What We Are Looking For
- Advanced degree in accounting or finance, or a bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in accounting
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX requirements, and financial reporting processes
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with financial tools like Blackline, Hyperion preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience developing and mentoring teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively across all organizational levels
- Experience in shared services or large multinational organizations preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional environment
- Process improvement mindset with ability to identify and implement efficiencies
Nice to Have
- Additional certifications in relevant areas, such as forensic accounting or internal audit
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools
