About the Role
The Actuarial Analyst role at Mutual Of Omaha is a critical position that drives business performance through data-driven decision-making. As an Actuarial Analyst, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze financial and operational data, identify trends, and provide recommendations to business leaders. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing, validating, and maintaining actuarial models, reports, forecasts, and projections.The role is part of a fast-paced environment that requires a strong sense of urgency and accountability. You will be working remotely, with occasional in-office collaboration, and will need to demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting, as well as experience with Excel and data querying tools.
What You Will Do
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, assess performance, and provide recommendations to business leaders
- Develop, validate, and maintain actuarial models, reports, forecasts, and projections used in product management and business planning
- Support product pricing, profitability analysis, and other actuarial research initiatives
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, presentations, and analyses for customers, management, and business partners
- Participate in special projects and collaborate across teams to evaluate business opportunities, process improvements, and financial impacts
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive business performance and strategic decision-making
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and management reporting
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to drive business growth
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of actuarial, financial analysis, or related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large datasets
- Solid analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and respond to customer inquiries with a strong sense of urgency
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with data querying tools, such as SQL
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting
- Ability to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection
Nice to Have
- Experience with investments, banking, pension risk transfer (PRT), or related financial services areas
- Experience building financial models, forecasts, or management reporting
- Certification in actuarial science or a related field
