About the Role
The Adjunct Professor in Social Work will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of social work professionals. As part of the DSW Program in Human Rights Leadership, you will be responsible for teaching online synchronous courses that focus on theory, leadership practice, research, teaching, and policy through the lens of human rights. The DSW Program in Human Rights Leadership is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to become leaders in the field of social work. As an adjunct professor, you will be responsible for teaching courses that cover a range of topics, including human rights, social justice, and leadership practice. Your teaching philosophy should align with the university's values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What You Will Do
- Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions, and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives
- Provide individualized attention to students, including meeting with them outside of class to discuss their progress and provide guidance
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic success
- Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner
- Provide timely feedback and guidance to students to support their learning and development
- Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and implement curriculum changes and improvements
- Participate in departmental meetings and events to stay current with departmental initiatives and goals
- Stay current with developments in the field of social work and human rights, and incorporate this knowledge into your teaching practice
- Use technology, including Excel, to support teaching and learning
What We Are Looking For
- Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or DSW) in social work or a related field
- Experience teaching in an online synchronous format
- Demonstrated evidence of maintaining professional currency in the field of social work and human rights
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to diversity, social justice, and human rights
- Experience with curriculum development and program evaluation
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and pedagogy
- Experience with online learning management systems and other educational technologies
Nice to Have
- Eligible for social work licensure in the state of residence
- Three years of post-MSW experience in a leadership role
- Master's or doctoral-level teaching experience in an online synchronous format
- Experience with community-based research and practice
