About the Role
The AI Deployment Engineer role at OpenAI is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of artificial intelligence. As a key member of the Codex Deployment Engineering team, you will partner with customers to design, validate, and scale advanced AI workflows. Your expertise will help guide engineering teams as they integrate Codex into their projects and workflows, accelerating how they plan, build, and deliver software.The Codex Deployment Engineering team acts as trusted technical partners, working side-by-side with customers to accelerate their software development lifecycle. Our customers span digital-native companies to global enterprises, and we work closely with them to enable their engineering teams and build coding workflows.
As an AI Deployment Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality demos, reference implementations, and workflow automations using Codex. You will also contribute to the OpenAI Cookbook, creating technical content that helps the broader developer community accelerate their work with Codex.
What You Will Do
- Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert on OpenAI Codex for a portfolio of customers
- Embed deeply with customers to enable their engineering teams and build coding workflows
- Partner directly with customers to design and implement AI-enhanced development workflows
- Build high-quality demos, reference implementations, and workflow automations using Codex
- Lead large-format workshops, technical deep dives, and hands-on enablement sessions
- Contribute technical content to the OpenAI Cookbook
- Gather high-fidelity product insights from real customer deployments and translate them into clear product proposals
- Influence customer strategy and decision-making by framing how AI coding tools fit into their SDLC
- Serve as a trusted advisor on solution architecture, operational readiness, model configuration, security considerations, and best-practice adoption
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of technical consulting, post-sales engineering, solutions architecture, or similar experience
- Experience working directly with customers, preferably in a technical capacity
- Strong understanding of AI coding tools and their applications
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear, persuasive written and verbal form
- Experience delivering large, high-impact workshops or technical training to engineering teams
- Contributed technical guides, patterns, or examples publicly
- Care about customer success, reliability, safety, and operational excellence
- Strong Excel skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Codex or similar AI coding tools
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and its various stages
