About the Role
The AI Deployment Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective deployment of Generative AI applications for government agencies. This involves acting as a trusted advisor and thought partner, working closely with customers to build an effective backlog of GenAI use cases and driving them to production through strong technical guidance. As a founding member of the AI Deployment Engineering team in the Public Sector segment, the successful candidate will help transform government agencies through innovative solutions such as automated content generation, contextual search, and novel applications of the latest models and technology.The role is based in Washington, DC, with relocation support available for new employees. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the public sector and experience in technical consulting, with the ability to bridge technical teams and senior stakeholders.
What You Will Do
- Embed with public sector customers as the technical lead to ideate and build novel applications on the OpenAI API.
- Identify the best applications of GenAI in the industry and build a comprehensive backlog to support the customer's AI roadmap.
- Intervene directly to accelerate customer time to value through hands-on prototypes or strategic guidance, often in collaboration with systems integrators and implementation partners.
- Forge and manage relationships with customer leadership and stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and scale of applications.
- Contribute to open-source developer and enterprise resources.
- Scale the AI Deployment Engineering function by sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, and publishing notebooks to internal and external repositories.
- Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to the Product, Engineering, and Research teams.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Global Affairs, Applied Research, and Product teams.
- Design an architecture using the OpenAI API and other services to maximize customer value.
What We Are Looking For
- 7+ years of technical consulting experience with public sector customers, preferably with a U.S. federal background.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience leading GenAI or traditional ML implementations for government agencies in close collaboration with systems integrators and implementation partners.
- Understanding of network and cloud architecture, including on-premise deployments.
- Effective and polished communication skills to translate business and technical topics to all audiences.
- Industry experience in programming languages like Python or Javascript.
- Ability to own problems end-to-end and pick up missing knowledge to get the job done.
- Humble attitude, eagerness to help colleagues, and a desire to make the team succeed.
- Effective, high-throughput operator who can drive multiple concurrent projects and prioritize ruthlessly.
