About the Role

The AI Deployment Engineering team at Openai plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective deployment of Generative AI applications for developers and enterprises. As an AI Deployment Engineer, you will serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner for customers, working to build an effective backlog of GenAI use cases for their industry and driving them to production through strong technical guidance. You will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of AI capabilities and safely deploying them to the world through their products.

The role is based in Sydney, Australia, and you will report to the Head of Technical Success, APAC. You will work closely with senior customer leaders to establish a GenAI strategy and identify the highest value applications, and then partner with their technical teams to move from prototype to production. You will take a holistic view of their needs and design an enterprise architecture using ChatGPT, OpenAI API, and other services to maximize customer value.

What You Will Do

  • Deeply embed with strategic platform customers as the technical lead, serving as their technical thought partner to ideate and build novel applications on the OpenAI API
  • Work with senior customer stakeholders to identify the best applications of GenAI in their industry and to build and qualify a comprehensive backlog to support their AI roadmap
  • Intervene directly to accelerate customer time to value through building hands-on prototypes and/or delivering impactful strategic guidance
  • Forge and manage relationships with customers' leadership and stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and scale of their applications
  • Contribute to open-source developer and enterprise resources
  • Scale the Solutions Architect function through sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, and publishing notebooks to internal and external repositories
  • Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to the Product and Research teams
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product teams to ensure customer success
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the OpenAI API and other services to maximize customer value

What We Are Looking For

  • 6+ years of technical consulting (or equivalent) experience, bridging technical teams and senior business stakeholders
  • Effective and polished communication skills, with the ability to translate business and technical topics to all audiences
  • Experience leading complex implementations of Generative AI/traditional ML solutions and knowledge of network/cloud architecture
  • Industry experience in programming languages like Python or Javascript
  • Ability to own problems end-to-end and pick up whatever knowledge is missing to get the job done
  • Humble attitude, eagerness to help colleagues, and a desire to do whatever it takes to make the team succeed
  • Effective, high-throughput operator who can drive multiple concurrent projects and prioritize ruthlessly
  • Strong technical background, with experience working in a fast-paced environment
