AI Engineer (LLM) - Remote

What You Will Do

• Design and implement new AI-powered product features from concept to production, focusing on quality, reliability, and user value.
• Improve existing AI workflows to enhance quality, reduce latency, and increase overall performance.
• Develop LLM-based workflows, including structured outputs, validation logic, and fallback behaviors, to ensure robust and reliable AI-generated outputs.
• Build evaluation loops, tests, and quality checks for AI outputs to maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing product and backend systems, ensuring smooth functionality and minimal disruption.
• Work with commercial and open-source LLMs, leveraging the best tools for each task without being limited to a single provider.
• Support self-hosted model workflows where they offer advantages in terms of quality, speed, cost, or control.
• Debug AI feature failures, analyzing inputs, outputs, data, backend logic, and user flows to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
• Utilize AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar, as a core part of your daily workflow to streamline AI development and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure AI solutions align with business objectives and user needs.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong software engineering skills, particularly in Python or comparable backend languages.
• Experience in building AI-powered product features or LLM-based workflows, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality AI solutions.
• Ability to quickly turn ambiguous product ideas into working software, demonstrating a practical approach to AI development.
• Strong understanding of how to design, test, validate, and improve AI outputs, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and reliability.
• Experience integrating AI workflows into production systems, with a focus on seamless integration and minimal disruption.
• Strong debugging instincts across application logic, data, model outputs, and user-facing behavior, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues efficiently.
• Experience with evaluation, testing, validation, or quality checks for AI-generated outputs, ensuring high accuracy and efficiency.
• Serious experience using AI development tools as part of your daily workflow, with a deep understanding of their capabilities and limitations.

• Experience with healthcare software, healthcare data, or regulated environments, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and considerations involved.
• Experience working with structured data extraction, documentation automation, voice workflows, or workflow automation, with a broad understanding of the applications and potential of AI in various domains.
• German language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, partners, or clients in a multicultural environment.
