Job Description

About the Role

The AMP Farm Coordinator position is a critical component of Rodale Institute's effort to promote regenerative agriculture in the southeastern United States. This role entails working directly with farmers to provide technical assistance, create organic transition plans, and implement NRCS conservation practices. As a key member of the AMP team, the coordinator will collaborate with the AMP Program Manager, AMP Market Coordinator, and other AMP Farm Coordinators to ensure the program's success.

The AMP Farm Coordinator will be responsible for managing a portfolio of farmers, providing them with the necessary resources and support to adopt regenerative practices. This will involve extensive travel throughout the southeastern United States, attending farmer education meetings, workshops, and events. The coordinator will also work closely with the Consulting, Communications & Marketing, Development, and Education departments at Rodale Institute to advance the organization's mission.

What You Will Do

  • Act as the primary point of contact for designated participating farmers
  • Ensure farmers submit required documents and reports to Rodale Institute annually
  • Verify NRCS conservation practices are being implemented according to standards
  • Perform environmental evaluations on designated farms
  • Provide technical assistance to farmers in creating organic transition plans and conservation production plans
  • Offer scientifically sound agronomic recommendations to farmers
  • Assist farmers in identifying specialized equipment needed for new practices
  • Coordinate and attend farmer education meetings, workshops, and events
  • Collaborate with the AMP Marketing Coordinator to provide marketing support to farmers
  • Assist with participant farmer on-farm research as needed

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in agricultural conservation, regenerative agriculture, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and data management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working with farmers or in agricultural education
  • Knowledge of NRCS conservation practices and organic transition plans
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, environmental science, or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience with marketing and outreach efforts
  • Knowledge of specialized farm equipment and technology
  • Certification in organic agriculture or conservation practices
