About the Role

As an Android Engineer at Oura Health Ltd, you'll be part of a talented team of app developers distributed across the EU and US, working together to create innovative health and wellness products. Your day-to-day will involve designing, building, and maintaining high-quality code for projects on the team's roadmap, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver complex features. You'll have the autonomy to take ownership of projects and contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and platform-level improvements.

The engineering organization at Oura Health Ltd is structured into smaller cross-functional feature squads, each with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility for the development and architecture of their features. You'll work closely with your squad to handle everything from concepting and design to implementation, release, maintenance, and bug fixes.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality code for projects on the team's roadmap
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver complex features
  • Work closely with your feature squad to handle all aspects of feature development
  • Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and platform-level improvements
  • Align with product managers and designers to push projects forward
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as backend, firmware, data science, research, science, or QA, to deliver features
  • Improve the health of the Android codebase by working with Android colleagues across the US and EU
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality code
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Android app development and contribute to the team's knowledge base
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during development or after release

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 3+ years of professional development experience shipping Android apps
  • Proficiency with Kotlin programming and modern Android app architectures (MVVM, MVI, etc.)
  • Experience with RxJava and/or Coroutines/Flow, Jetpack Compose, and common third-party libraries
  • Collaborative development experience on complex shared codebases
  • Proficiency with git, branching, and standard code review workflows
  • Focus on quality through unit tests and manual testing
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and design patterns
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum processes

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years of professional development experience shipping Android apps
  • Experience with Dagger, Realm, JNI, C++, PyTorch, TypeScript, CI/CD, or Kotlin Multiplatform
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and design technical solutions
  • Experience working asynchronously across countries and time zones
  • Experience working with firmware teams on projects involving hardware
  • Experience developing health, wellness, fitness, or women’s health products
  • Experience with ML algorithms, encryption, or data privacy
