About the Role

The Assistant Controller, Global GL Operations, is a critical position at Coinbase, responsible for overseeing the company's global general ledger operations. This involves managing the month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and collaborating with various teams to drive business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with experience in managing global financial operations, financial reporting, and team management. What You Will Do

  • Oversee month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis for global accounting processes.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Source-To-Pay teams to ensure proper accounting and financial reporting.
  • Support in financial statement preparation and review for the global consolidated audit and international subsidiary statutory financial statements.
  • Manage and review work deliverables of junior accounting team members, fostering professional development.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting systems, processes, and controls to ensure accounting and reporting accuracy and efficiencies.
  • Lead or participate in critical financial infrastructure projects, such as vendor transitions, system integration, and automation.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation and procedures for all tasks.
  • Support ad hoc financial information requests and analyses and other special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain international subsidiaries’ parallel books of accounts in line with local country GAAP and maintain appropriate reconciliations and valid support for all adjustments.

What We Are Looking For

  • CPA or equivalent required.
  • 13+ years of experience, ideally from a Big 4/Professional Services firm or a publicly-traded fintech/SaaS company.
  • Minimum 4+ years of direct team management/leadership experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of business functions, with an emphasis on senior-level communication.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including experience with adjusting and managing global financial systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and US GAAP.
  • Experience with financial systems and software, such as Excel and accounting ERP systems.
