Assistant QA Manager (Retail Food & Beverage)

About the Role

As a key member of the QA team, the Assistant QA Manager will be responsible for conducting product audits, monitoring customer complaints, and supporting the development of quality assurance operating procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, food safety, and quality control principles. The Assistant QA Manager will report to the QA Manager and work closely with other departments to ensure that all products meet the company's high standards.

The retail food and beverage industry is highly competitive, with changing consumer preferences and evolving regulatory requirements. What You Will Do

• Compile and report quality metrics on a periodic basis, highlighting trends and potential opportunities for improvement
• Conduct product audits on new and existing items to measure compliance with requirements
• Summarize data, identify concerns, and provide feedback to key stakeholders
• Maintain QA and company product information databases and critical files
• Monitor Customer Complaint database and report both immediate issues and longer-term trends on a routine basis
• Support investigation and troubleshooting of quality, food safety, and/or regulatory issues arising from partners, customers, retail stores, or regulators
• Support implementation of corrective actions and procedure improvements to resolve issues
• Support review and/or updating of company operating procedures, training programs, resource manuals, standards manuals, and operational tools related to food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
• Utilize company standards and requirements, government regulations, and guidelines to assure the timely availability and appropriateness of product information, samples, certifications, and/or official documents needed to meet local market regulatory requirements and/or to support product claims/names in domestic and international markets
• Utilize department procedures to audit and qualify supplier and distributor QA programs to assure that quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standards are met for ingredients, products, and supplies
• Identify compliance issues and work with suppliers and distributors to resolve problems

What We Are Looking For

• 2-3 years of experience in Food Safety Certification classes, including safe food handling and sanitation
• Experience in gathering, recording, and reporting on operational and quality metrics
• Knowledge of manufacturer/supplier quality system and product quality auditing
• Ability to plan, develop, monitor, and verify Quality System programs and processes
• Experience with product formulas and product information to create required label information, including nutrition information
• Retail foodservice inspections and regulatory enforcement experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with quality assurance operating procedures and documentation
• Knowledge of government regulations and guidelines related to food safety and quality control
• Familiarity with department procedures for auditing and qualifying supplier and distributor QA programs
• Experience with cross-functional project teams to ensure business initiatives and/or new market openings meet Quality, Product Safety, and Regulatory Standards
• Certification in quality assurance or a related field
