About the Role

The Assistant Store Manager role at Ross Stores, Inc. is a dynamic and challenging position that requires strong leadership skills, a customer-centric approach, and the ability to adapt to changing situations. As a key member of the store management team, the Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for managing and supervising all areas of the store, following company policies, and ensuring that customers have a positive shopping experience.

The Assistant Store Manager will work closely with the Store Manager to achieve business objectives, analyze store reports, and identify areas for improvement. This role is an excellent opportunity for those who are passionate about retail, customer experience, and leadership.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and supervise all areas of the store, including sales floor, customer service, and merchandising
  • Assist in analyzing store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance
  • Communicate any variances to company standards to the Store Manager
  • Ensure proper scheduling of Associates to meet business objectives
  • Ensure compliance with all State, Local, and Federal regulations
  • Accept special assignments as directed by Leadership
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing non-exempt Associates
  • Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures
  • Assist with Associate Relations issues by communicating any incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager as needed
  • Control payroll hours to plan, as the primary controllable expense, as well as adjusting to current business trends
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and Associates

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of retail management experience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of State, Local, and Federal regulations
  • Experience with payroll administration and scheduling
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of merchandising and inventory management

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of store operations and management
  • Experience with customer service and relations
  • Certification in retail management or a related field
