About the Role
The Associate Corporate Counsel, Large Molecule, plays a critical role in providing global counsel to the Large Molecule Business Unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Drug Substance Division. This is a 100% remote opportunity, allowing the successful candidate to work from anywhere in North America. The role involves delivering high-quality commercial and business legal advice, as well as compliance and transactional support to the Large Molecule Business Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial contract management, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. The Associate Corporate Counsel will work closely with the Director, Corporate Counsel, to provide day-to-day legal operations support, manage outside counsel, and lead legal projects and initiatives. The role requires a customer-centric approach, with the ability to support both external and internal clients while protecting the best interests of the company. The Large Molecule Business Unit is a key part of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Drug Substance Division, with sites located globally. The successful candidate will need to be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a global team.What You Will Do
- Provide ongoing legal advice and support to the Large Molecule Business Unit, including contract review and negotiation
- Establish effective collaborative working relationships with the BU and Site Leadership Teams, Business Management, Sales, Operations, Quality, and other functions
- Collaborate with the PSG Contracting and Functional Counsel as needed
- Provide guidance on a range of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, products liability, trade compliance, and data privacy
- Draft and review contracts, including biopharmaceutical manufacturing contracts, commercial, supplier, and sourcing contracts
- Provide advice on supply chain and sourcing matters, including liability gaps and chains
- Ensure that the Large Molecule Business Unit conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Provide training to the organization on a range of matters
- Assist and support the Division Lead Counsel on strategic projects of the Division/BU, as assigned
- Manage outside counsel in certain aspects of the Large Molecule business
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate required (or equivalent working experience)
- Strong background in Commercial Contract Management experience gained in a fast-paced, cross-functional working environment
- Ideally, experience gained from the pharmaceutical or related industry, or within a manufacturing environment
- Customer-centric approach in supporting both external and internal clients while protecting the best interest of the company
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a global team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
Nice to Have
- Experience with biopharmaceutical manufacturing contracts and commercial, supplier, and sourcing contracts
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations, including FDA and other agencies
- Experience with products liability, trade compliance, and data privacy
- Familiarity with supply chain and sourcing matters, including liability gaps and chains
