About the Role

The Associate Counsel role at Alliant Insurance Services, Inc is a dynamic and challenging position that requires a strong legal background and excellent communication skills. As a key member of the legal team, the successful candidate will be responsible for advising on a broad range of legal issues, reviewing and drafting contracts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including corporate and business development, accounting, sales, and human resources, to provide legal guidance and support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of employment law, contract negotiation, and corporate compliance, as well as excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.

What You Will Do

  • Advise on a wide range of legal issues, including employment law, contract negotiation, and corporate compliance
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, including employment agreements, equity documents, and vendor agreements
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and implement company policies, processes, and procedures
  • Assist internal and external legal counsel with providing guidance on legal matters and anticipating potential legal problems
  • Develop and implement legal compliance projects to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Work with external counsel and internal business teams to respond to subpoenas and litigation discovery requests
  • Support pre- and post-close merger and acquisition activity, including reviewing transaction-related agreements and improving transaction-related processes
  • Review and revise internal legal policies, processes, and procedures to increase efficiencies and support business objectives

What We Are Looking For

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Member in good standing of at least one State Bar or the District of Columbia State Bar
  • Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to give legal guidance in a practical, business-oriented manner
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish good professional relationships with internal clients, management, and legal colleagues

Nice to Have

  • Experience in employment law and/or mergers and acquisitions practice
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Excel
  • Certification in a related field, such as contract management or compliance
