Job Description

About the Role

The Associate Director, Patient Engagement, will play a pivotal role in building and leading Europe-based patient advocacy engagements and collaborations for AskBio. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing an external engagement strategy that aligns with internal business needs and external community needs. The role will focus on cultivating positive relationships with patient communities, advocacy groups, and individual patients to better understand their needs, experiences, and challenges.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing the patient voice and perspective as the company designs and implements its clinical development programs. This will involve leading Europe-based engagements with patient groups, setting the strategy, and leading execution to evolve disease and gene therapy understanding and education.

The Associate Director, Patient Engagement, will report to the VP, Global Head of External Engagement and Public Affairs in Medical Affairs and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that patient perspectives shape decision-making processes, clinical development strategies, and patient empowerment initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement an external engagement strategy aligned to internal business needs and external community needs
  • Ensure the development and execution of the medical affairs patient advocacy/external engagement plan for Europe
  • Partner with patient organizations across Europe to identify and implement innovative initiatives that empower patient communities
  • Participate in and support patient organization events, workshops, and conferences to elevate gene therapy awareness and understanding
  • Lead Europe-based engagements with patient groups, setting the strategy and leading execution to evolve disease and gene therapy understanding and education
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that patient perspectives shape decision-making processes, clinical development strategies, and patient empowerment initiatives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including patient organizations, advocacy groups, and healthcare professionals
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, research, and developments in gene therapy and patient engagement

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong experience in patient engagement, advocacy, or a related field
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful engagement strategies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the gene therapy industry and patient needs
  • Experience working with patient organizations, advocacy groups, and healthcare professionals
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools

  • Fluency in multiple European languages
