About the Role

The Associate, Finance Leadership Development Program at The Hartford is a unique opportunity for high-performing students to develop critical leadership and functional skills in finance. As a member of this three-year talent development program, you'll have the chance to work on rotation assignments, participate in supplemental project work, and engage with a structured learning curriculum. The program is designed to build financial acumen and industry knowledge, with a focus on areas such as financial planning and analysis, management reporting, financial reporting, internal audit, and investment accounting and analysis.

What You Will Do

  • Develop critical leadership and functional skills in areas such as financial planning and analysis, management reporting, financial reporting, internal audit, and investment accounting and analysis
  • Participate in rotation assignments designed to build financial acumen and industry knowledge
  • Engage in supplemental project work to further develop your skills and expertise
  • Collaborate with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about making a difference
  • Analyze and reason through complex problems, and make sound recommendations in a fast-paced environment
  • Develop strong communication, change agility, and team skills
  • Participate in a structured learning curriculum for career foundation and functional, role-based skills
  • Engage with leader talent at all levels, and access key Finance roles within The Hartford as you transition to program graduation
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's business and operations, and contribute to the development of strategic plans and initiatives
  • Identify areas for process improvement, and develop and implement solutions
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues, customers, and partners

What We Are Looking For

  • Students expecting to graduate in May 2026 with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Insurance, and/or International Business
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the time of graduation
  • A record of high achievement, analytical thinking, initiative, and process improvement
  • Strong communication, change agility, and team skills
  • Ability to analyze and reason through complex problems, and make sound recommendations in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership experience outside of the classroom
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience with financial planning and analysis software, such as Excel or financial modeling tools
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with data analytics and data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Certification in a related field, such as the CFA or CPA
  • Experience with project management tools, such as Asana or Trello
