About the Role

The Associate, Government Affairs role at Oscar is a critical component of the company's efforts to navigate the ever-changing healthcare landscape. As a key member of the Government Affairs team, the successful candidate will be responsible for tracking legislative and regulatory developments, analyzing their impact on the business, and communicating findings to various stakeholders. The role is based remotely in the United States, with a focus on Washington D.C. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of government affairs, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. The Associate, Government Affairs will report to the Manager of Government and Regulatory Affairs and will work closely with various teams across the organization.

What You Will Do

  • Track legislative and regulatory developments in assigned jurisdictions
  • Analyze the impact of proposed and enacted legislation on the business
  • Communicate findings to various stakeholders, including the compliance team and business units
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including trade associations and regulatory bodies
  • Support the Government Affairs Counsel in trade association relationships and other initiatives
  • Prepare clear and concise summaries of legislative and regulatory developments
  • Present to internal audiences on priority legislative and regulatory policy developments
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Support sustainable processes to simplify the team's outputs while ensuring high-quality deliverables

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in legal studies, political science, public policy, public administration, public health, or other relevant field
  • 3+ years of legal or regulatory experience, ideally in the health plan/managed care space
  • 2+ years of experience working with state political and legislative processes
  • 2+ years of experience using Westlaw, legislative tracking software, and Google Workspace
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Experience working with attorneys and internal stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare.gov or other State-Based Exchanges
  • Experience working with Oscar markets
  • Knowledge of healthcare policy and regulatory trends
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and analysis
