As part of the Animalz team, the Associate Head of Content will report to a Head of Content who will serve as a strategic partner and consultant. The role will involve close collaboration with the SEO and content engineering teams to ensure content strategies account for traditional search, AI-powered discovery, and emerging content production workflows. The balance of work will shift based on agency needs, with a heavier writing load when managing fewer accounts and a focus on strategic account management when managing more accounts.

What You Will Do

  • Research, outline, and write high-quality SEO content, including blog posts, guides, and landing pages, that balances search intent with editorial excellence
  • Refresh and optimize existing content to improve rankings, engagement, and visibility across both traditional search and AI-powered discovery tools
  • Maintain Animalz's standard of writing quality across all content produced and overseen, ensuring every piece is clear, well-structured, and genuinely useful to the reader
  • Create and optimize content strategies for accounts, incorporating SEO, AEO, and content performance data
  • Manage content calendars that align with each customer's goals, search landscape, and competitive positioning
  • Generate strategic content ideas and craft comprehensive briefs that account for keyword targeting, search intent, SERP features, and AI search visibility
  • Serve as a consultative partner to customers, offering expertise on how their content performs across organic search and AI-driven channels
  • Proactively identify risks to account health and flag them early
  • Report on content performance monthly, using tools like GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, and Clearscope to communicate results and surface opportunities
  • Manage and assign work to freelance writers, preparing briefs, tracking deadlines, reviewing drafts, and providing editorial feedback to ensure quality and consistency

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in content creation, with a focus on SEO and editorial excellence
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality, engaging content that ranks and drives results
  • Expertise in SEO tools, including GA4, Ahrefs, and Adjust
  • Experience with programmatic content and Excel
  • Strong understanding of content strategy and the ability to develop comprehensive content plans
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to different audiences and formats
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and communication
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
