About the Role
The Associate Manager, Billing Operations & Strategy, will be at the helm of Coinbase's billing operations for its Custody and Prime institutional products. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of invoicing, the efficiency of collections, and the implementation of revenue controls. The successful candidate will also be responsible for driving the automation roadmap, aiming to make billing operations faster, cleaner, and more automated. This position requires close collaboration with various departments, including Finance, Revenue Accounting, and Engineering, to achieve its objectives.As a key member of the billing operations team, the Associate Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities, lead the team to achieve its goals, and coordinate with external partners for support when necessary. The role's impact is directly tied to how Coinbase recognizes institutional revenue and maintains client trust at scale, making it a critical component of the company's overall strategy.
What You Will Do
- Own the day-to-day billing operations for Custody and Prime products, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead and develop the billing operations team, managing performance and providing guidance.
- Coordinate with external partners for billing process support.
- Drive the automation of billing and collections processes, leveraging AI for drafting and ticket triage.
- Collaborate with Revenue Accounting, FP&A, Engineering, and Sales on billing systems and migration projects.
- Execute and maintain billing-related SOX controls, ensuring compliance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve complex billing issues.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Analyze and resolve billing discrepancies and issues.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in billing, revenue, or finance operations, with a focus on process ownership.
- Proven experience in leading or mentoring a team and managing operational queues to SLA.
- Strong command of billing and invoicing systems, with hands-on experience in NetSuite, Salesforce, or comparable tools.
- Track record of improving operational processes through automation and tooling.
- Working familiarity with SOX controls and the financial close process.
- Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-assisted process automation.
- Knowledge of crypto or financial services industry regulations.
- Certification in a related field, such as CPA or CMA.
