About the Role

The Associate Product Counsel role at Dropbox is a unique opportunity to join a talented team of legal professionals and provide critical guidance on user data protection and security. As a key member of the product counseling team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, security, and infrastructure, to ensure that Dropbox continues to be an industry leader in protecting user data.

The successful candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, including counseling on user privacy and data protection issues, investigating and assessing security and privacy risks, and developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

What You Will Do

  • Counsel on user privacy and data protection issues in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Investigate and assess security and privacy risks, and develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate those risks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, security, and infrastructure, to ensure that Dropbox continues to be an industry leader in protecting user data
  • Develop and implement training programs to educate employees on data protection and security best practices
  • Provide guidance on the development and implementation of new products and features, to ensure that they are designed with data protection and security in mind
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations, and ensure that Dropbox is in compliance with those laws and regulations
  • Work closely with the security team to respond to security incidents and ensure that Dropbox's response is timely and effective
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including law enforcement and regulatory agencies

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in a tech company or law firm
  • A strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR and CCPA
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • A passion for data protection and security, and a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field
  • A strong academic record, with a JD or equivalent degree from a top-tier law school
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with cloud-based technologies, including AWS and Azure
  • A strong understanding of machine learning and AI, and their applications in the tech industry
  • Experience working with external partners and stakeholders, including law enforcement and regulatory agencies
  • A certification in data protection or security, such as CIPP or CISSP
