About the Role
The Associate Underwriter position at Palomar is a critical component of the company's underwriting team, responsible for providing essential support to underwriters in making informed decisions. This involves a range of tasks from data entry and clearance to modeling and administrative support, ensuring that all processes are handled efficiently from the initial submission through to policy issuance and renewal. As part of a dynamic and innovative insurer, the successful candidate will be part of a team that values agility, innovation, and authenticity.The role requires a strong customer service focus, combining this with the ability to manage responsibilities in a timely, accurate, professional, and consistent manner. The Associate Underwriter will report to the VP, Underwriting, and will be integral in supporting the underwriting process. This includes setting up critical systems such as the ILF rater with tower schematics and exposure details, as well as updating and maintaining transaction logs and account documentation. Effective communication with brokers and agents to gather additional account information and provide updates on account status is also a key part of the role.
What You Will Do
- Perform data entry accurately and efficiently to support underwriting decisions.
- Maintain service diaries and manage account clearance processes.
- Support renewal templating processes, ensuring all necessary information is up-to-date and accessible.
- Set up ILF rater with tower schematics and exposure details for underwriting purposes.
- Develop and maintain UW templates with exposure and financial information.
- Update and maintain transaction logs and account documentation, ensuring accuracy and organization.
- Provide administrative support for the setup of manual submissions and transaction logs.
- Organize and ensure the completeness of files, supporting underwriters in their responsibilities.
- Assist in assembling and processing quotes, binders, policies, endorsements, and billing communications.
- Communicate effectively with brokers and agents to gather additional information and update them on account statuses.
- Follow up on missing documentation to facilitate account reviews and file audits.
- Offer general administrative support to underwriters and other internal teams as required.
