About the Role
The AWS Tech Lead position at Supabase represents a pivotal opportunity for a seasoned cloud professional to spearhead the architecture, governance, and operational foundations of the company's AWS environment. What You Will Do
- Maintain and improve the AWS organizational architecture, focusing on Organizations, SCPs, SSO, and IAM to ensure scalability and security.
- Define and maintain reusable infrastructure standards and patterns to enhance operational excellence across teams.
- Implement preventive and detective controls across the AWS estate, working closely with the Security department to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Create financial visibility and enforce resource ownership, collaborating with the FinOps department to optimize resource utilization and cost management.
- Lead the technical direction of the Platform Ops team, providing guidance and oversight on cloud architecture and governance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, growth, and engineering, to ensure alignment and support of business objectives.
- Develop and maintain documentation on AWS architecture, best practices, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 support for critical systems and resolve complex technical issues.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services and features, assessing their potential impact and benefits for Supabase.
What We Are Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in maintaining and implementing AWS architecture through Infrastructure as Code.
- 2+ years of technical leadership experience in a cloud foundations team focused on AWS, preferably in a high-velocity startup environment.
- Proficiency in Pulumi (TypeScript), Terraform, and Kubernetes, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in async or globally distributed teams, with a strong ability to navigate ambiguity and move quickly.
- Passion for solving real-world problems for developers and platform teams, with a customer-centric approach.
- Experience with cloud security, compliance, and cost optimization.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
Nice to Have
- Experience with other cloud providers (Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Knowledge of containerization using Docker and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.
- Participation in open-source projects or personal projects that demonstrate expertise in cloud computing and DevOps practices.
