About the Role
Posthog is seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join its team of exceptional engineers. As a Backend Engineer at Posthog, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the systems that power our products, including our feature flags evaluation service, data warehouse, and AI-powered analyst. You will work closely with our product teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient backend systems that can handle millions of requests per minute.Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about building high-performance systems, has a deep understanding of databases, APIs, and scalable architectures, and is excited about the opportunity to work on complex problems. What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient backend systems
- Work closely with product teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Develop and maintain our feature flags evaluation service, data warehouse, and AI-powered analyst
- Collaborate with other engineers to ensure consistency and quality across our systems
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of our codebase
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
- Participate in agile development methodologies and ceremonies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve company goals
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in backend engineering
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, or C++
- Experience with databases, including relational and NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of APIs, including RESTful APIs and GraphQL
- Experience with scalable architectures, including microservices and cloud-based systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI and machine learning technologies
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud
