About the Role
BJAK is seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer to join their team in building the core systems behind their finance super app. As a backend engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing reliable and scalable systems that can handle millions of users. You will work closely with the product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly and efficiently.The finance super app is a complex system that requires a deep understanding of financial products, payment gateways, and user accounts. As a backend engineer, you will be responsible for building APIs, workflows, and financial product infrastructure that can scale across markets and partners. You will also work with banks, payment gateways, insurers, and other partners to integrate their services into the app.

What You Will Do
- Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the finance super app
- Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel, and financial services
- Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications, and operations
- Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly
- Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers, and other partners
- Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance
- Build systems that are practical, auditable, and ready for regulated financial products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall code quality
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design, and production debugging
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
- Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality, and operational edge cases
- Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk
- Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations, and business teams
- Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking, or regulated products is a strong advantage
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements
Nice to Have
