This position requires a deep understanding of capital markets, specifically within the context of repo markets, swap dealers, derivatives margining, and collateral management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in traditional capital markets and a strong grasp of dealer funding models, balance-sheet constraints, and regulatory capital considerations.

As a key member of the team, the Business Development Director will be responsible for leading technical engagements with swap dealers, primary dealers, and market infrastructure providers. The ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and negotiate strategic deals at a C-level audience level is crucial.

Circle's platform is designed to power trusted, internet-scale financial innovation, and this role is central to achieving that vision. By integrating USDC into secured financing, derivatives margining, and dealer balance-sheet workflows, the Business Development Director will contribute significantly to the company's mission of creating an inclusive financial future.

What You Will Do

  • Lead technical engagements with swap dealers, primary dealers, FCMs, CCPs, custodians, and tri-party agents to drive USDC adoption.
  • Act as a credible counterpart to dealer treasury and funding teams, guiding pilots from design through live execution in coordination with internal product and engineering teams.
  • Partner with legal, compliance, and risk teams to ensure USDC integrations align with applicable derivatives and market regulations.
  • Anticipate regulatory and risk concerns from counterparties and help structure use cases that are scalable and defensible.
  • Serve as the internal expert on repo markets, dealer balance sheets, and derivatives market structure, advising senior leadership on areas where USDC can deliver meaningful capital, liquidity, and operational benefits.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the financial industry, including primary dealers, swap dealers, and market infrastructure providers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet the evolving needs of the market.
  • Analyze market trends and regulatory changes to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Represent Circle in industry forums and conferences, promoting the company's vision and solutions.

What We Are Looking For

  • 12+ years of extensive experience in traditional capital markets, with direct exposure to repo markets, swap dealers, derivatives margining, or collateral management.
  • Experience working with primary dealers, swap dealers, FCMs, CCPs, custodians, or major market infrastructure providers.
  • Strong understanding of dealer funding models, balance-sheet constraints, and regulatory capital considerations.
  • Familiarity with margin frameworks, netting, segregation, rehypothecation, and liquidity requirements.
  • Proven capability in negotiating and securing high-impact strategic deals at a C-level audience level, exhibiting strong persuasive and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Excel and the ability to analyze complex financial data.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proven ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with cryptocurrency industries, including key players, products, and trends.
  • Experience or familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS, and GSuite.
  • Knowledge of generative AI models (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) and prompt development.
  • Understanding of blockchain technology and its applications in financial markets.
  • Certification in financial planning or a related field.

Benefits and Perks

  • Flexible work arrangements, including remote work options.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training and education programs.
  • Access to the latest technologies and tools in the industry.
  • Recognition and reward for outstanding performance and contributions to the company's success.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

How to Stand Out

  • Familiarize yourself with regulatory frameworks governing derivatives and market regulations to anticipate and address potential concerns.
  • Highlight your experience with Excel and financial data analysis in your application, as these skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Prepare to discuss your strategy for driving USDC adoption and how you plan to engage with key stakeholders in the financial industry.
  • Emphasize your ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances, as this is crucial for success in this dynamic role.
