Job Description

About the Role

The Business Development Director Energy role is a key position at SNC-Lavalin, responsible for identifying, evaluating, and capturing new business opportunities in the energy sector. This remote position will be based out of the Oak Ridge, TN office and will focus on expanding the company's portfolio across the DOE marketplace. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build successful relationships with customers and partners.

The role will involve managing business development activities, including identifying new business opportunities, developing capture plans, and coordinating company resources to pursue and capture new work. The Business Development Director will also be responsible for gathering market and customer intelligence, participating in strategic planning, and developing proposals to win new contracts.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities in the energy sector
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and partners
  • Create and execute capture plans to win new contracts
  • Coordinate company resources to pursue and capture new work
  • Gather market and customer intelligence to inform business development strategies
  • Participate in strategic planning with the leadership team
  • Develop and maintain a strong professional network
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams
  • Manage and support proposal activities to win new contracts
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including contracts, legal, and procurement, to ensure contract terms and conditions are appropriately handled

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a relevant scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 12 years of combined technical and business development experience with US government programs
  • Minimum of 10 years of business development experience
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience working with the Department of Energy Environmental Management/NNSA and/or Office of Science in a business development role
  • Commercial Nuclear experience is desirable
  • Relationships with key leadership at Oak Ridge and/or Savannah River
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both within the internal team and while interfacing with customers
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, or a relevant scientific discipline
