Job Description

About the Role

The Business Development Manager position at Hitachi Energy is a pivotal role that focuses on expanding service offerings and strengthening customer partnerships within the power grid sector. As a key member of the Service Business team, you will be responsible for discovering and validating new business opportunities, particularly in the commercial and industrial segment.

The role entails working closely with customers to understand their operational needs and connecting customer challenges with innovative service solutions. Your efforts will directly contribute to the reliability, modernization, and sustainability of critical grid infrastructure. You will also collaborate with internal teams, including service sales, technical sales, and tendering teams, to drive business growth and development.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and validate new service business opportunities for power and distribution transformers and HV circuit breakers in the US industrial and commercial segment
  • Develop and implement effective roadmaps for reliable, resilient, and sustainable operations and maintenance of HV/substation and MV infrastructure for C&I customers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, service sales, technical sales, and tendering teams
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends and competitive landscape, positioning Hitachi Energy's transformer services effectively in the market
  • Provide lifecycle management programs that add value to C&I customers' businesses
  • Report on discovery and business development activities
  • Work closely with the service marketing and sales team to develop and implement business strategies
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
  • Travel domestically as required (up to 50%) to meet customers and internal teams

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, business development, or a related field
  • 8+ years of proven experience in C&I segments or related roles
  • Strong understanding of the US C&I industry and market dynamics
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and internal teams
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office tools

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the energy sector, particularly in power grid services
  • Knowledge of energy infrastructure, innovation, and related industry trends
  • Familiarity with service sales, technical sales, and tendering processes
