About the Role

As a Business Development Representative at Gitlab, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and expansion by generating qualified leads and meetings for the sales team. You will work closely with the Field and Digital Marketing teams, as well as the Sales and Customer Success teams, to identify and pursue new business opportunities. With a strong foundation in sales and marketing principles, you will leverage creative marketing and sales tactics to prospect and engage with multiple buyer personas and roles, introducing them to GitLab's value proposition.

What You Will Do

  • Execute outbound prospecting initiatives to generate qualified meetings and pipeline in your assigned territory
  • Conduct high-level discovery conversations with target accounts to understand business needs, qualify opportunities, and create Sales Accepted Opportunities (SAOs)
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly BDR-sourced Sales Accepted Opportunity (SAO) targets
  • Research and prioritize target accounts using business and industry knowledge
  • Execute a multi-touch outreach cadence to maximize engagement and conversion rates
  • Manage, track, and accurately report on all sales activities and performance metrics
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and refine sales strategies
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies
  • Utilize Salesforce, Excel, and other sales tools to manage leads and opportunities

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in sales, preferably in a business development or sales role
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong understanding of sales principles, practices, and techniques
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Experience with Salesforce, Excel, and other sales tools
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of industry trends
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Adjust or other sales analytics tools
  • Knowledge of DevOps and software development principles
  • Certification in sales or a related field
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
