About the Role

The Business Development Representative role at SMC National is a critical position focused on driving business growth through lead engagement, qualification, and nurturing. This full-time remote role reports to the Director of Marketing and is integral to the company's mission of helping people grow, particularly in the dental industry. As a key member of the marketing team, the Business Development Representative will be responsible for managing inbound and marketing-generated leads, ensuring high-quality leads are passed to the sales team, and contributing to the overall sales pipeline acceleration. This role requires a strong understanding of the sales process, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.

The day-to-day activities will include responding to inbound leads, executing multi-channel outreach, and personalized engagement based on lead behavior and fit. The role also involves continuous learning and improvement, staying updated on industry trends, and adapting outreach strategies to optimize results.

What You Will Do

  • Respond to inbound leads within defined SLAs, ensuring timely engagement with potential clients.
  • Execute multi-channel outreach, including calls, SMS, emails, voicemails, and LinkedIn messages, to engage with leads effectively.
  • Personalize outreach based on lead source, behavior, and ICP fit to increase the relevance and impact of communications.
  • Follow structured cadences for each lead type, such as Facebook lead forms, webinar registrations, downloads, referrals, etc., to systematicize the engagement process.
  • Conduct discovery calls to determine the fit of leads based on practice size, revenue, decision-maker status, current marketing challenges, timeline, budget alignment, and tech stack.
  • Document qualification notes clearly in HubSpot to ensure accurate tracking and follow-up.
  • Share relevant case studies, videos, and resources to educate leads on the value proposition and build credibility.
  • Warm leads before handing them over to the sales team to ensure a smooth transition and increase the chances of conversion.
  • Re-engage cold leads and follow up on no-shows to maximize the potential of the sales pipeline.
  • Push stalled deals forward with helpful content and identify buying signals early to capitalize on opportunities.

What We Are Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in marketing, sales, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a BDR/SDR, inside sales, or customer-facing role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Comfortable with CRM systems, preferably HubSpot, and experienced in using data to inform sales strategies.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong verbal and written skills, able to articulate value propositions clearly and confidently.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to manage resources effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Driven to deliver results, highly organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative team player with strong attention to detail and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs; proficiency in Excel is particularly valuable for data analysis.
