About the Role
The Business Intelligence Analyst Intermediate plays a crucial role in supporting data-driven decision-making at Geisinger. As a key member of the team, you will provide analytic expertise to drive business outcomes and improve patient access. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with stakeholders, designing reporting solutions, and developing data analysis that answers critical business questions.In this role, you will work closely with internal partners to design and develop reporting solutions and analytic studies that support business needs. You will also independently consult with stakeholders to gather project requirements and define scope on small to medium-sized projects. With a strong emphasis on strategic thinking and technical expertise, this position requires a unique blend of data analysis, communication, and project management skills.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with data structures, programming, and statistics, as well as a deep understanding of the healthcare sector and patient access challenges. You will be expected to stay up-to-date with industry trends and develop expertise in business intelligence software systems used at Geisinger.
What You Will Do
- Consult with stakeholders to gather project requirements and define scope on small to medium-sized projects
- Collaborate with internal partners to design and develop reporting solutions and analytic studies that support business needs
- Develop, validate, and execute queries to extract data insights
- Develop reports and perform data analysis that answers business questions for internal customers
- Interpret results and make recommendations to business areas based on findings
- Present analysis and reports to internal customers and stakeholders
- Familiarize yourself with descriptive and inferential statistics to inform data-driven decisions
- Participate in strategic departmental initiatives and share knowledge with team members
- Troubleshoot data quality issues and perform data profiling, testing, or validation as needed
- Plan projects and request completion tasks, providing time and effort estimates based on requirements gathering
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in a business intelligence or data analysis role
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, SQL, and database concepts
- Experience with Tableau or other BI tools
- Epic or other EHR experience highly preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Familiarity with data governance practices and change management principles
- Certification in data analysis or business intelligence
