About the Role
The Business Platform Engineer role at Openai is a unique opportunity to work on the design and development of scalable supply chain systems. As a key member of the Supply Chain Technology team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the systems and data architecture that power Openai's core supply chain operations. Your expertise in backend development, APIs, and data pipelines will be crucial in enabling operational agility, visibility, and execution across planning, fulfillment, and partner operations.The Supply Chain Technology team is focused on modernizing workflows through strategic integrations, scalable automation, and seamless data flows. What You Will Do
- Design and develop scalable distributed systems using cloud-native technologies and modern service-oriented architectures
- Develop backend applications, integrations, APIs, and data services that support core supply chain operations and workflows
- Own technical delivery across the software lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production support
- Improve system reliability, performance, observability, and security across business-critical platforms
- Partner closely with product and business stakeholders to deliver robust solutions with a high degree of ownership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and architecture diagrams
- Participate in code reviews and ensure that the codebase is maintainable, efficient, and scalable
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience in relevant roles at technology or product-driven companies
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
- Strong foundation in distributed systems concepts and cloud-native technologies
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, and systems integration patterns
- Strong understanding of reliability, safety, and performance in production environments
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with modern data platforms, workflow orchestration, and AI-enabled enterprise tooling
- Knowledge of supply chain operations and logistics
