About the Role
The Capital Markets Advisory Committee (CMAC) at IFRS Foundation is seeking new members to join its ranks, contributing to the development of IFRS Accounting Standards. This committee serves as a crucial forum for users of financial statements, including analysts, investors, and ratings agencies, providing a unique platform for these professionals to share their insights and expertise. The CMAC plays a vital role in ensuring that companies provide investors with useful and relevant information, thereby fostering trust and stability in the global economy.As a member of the CMAC, individuals will have the opportunity to engage directly with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) members and technical staff, contributing to the shaping of IFRS Accounting Standards. The committee's diverse membership, comprising up to 20 members with extensive practical experience in analyzing financial information, offers a rich environment for knowledge sharing and collaboration. Members are drawn from various industry backgrounds, bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the table.
The CMAC's work is built on the principles of transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of capital market participants. By joining the committee, members become part of a global network of financial experts committed to improving the quality and relevance of financial reporting.
What You Will Do
- Participate in the development of IFRS Accounting Standards, providing input and feedback on exposure drafts and other technical documents
- Engage with IASB members and technical staff to discuss technical issues and provide insights from a user perspective
- Collaborate with other CMAC members to identify and address key issues affecting financial reporting and capital market stability
- Represent the views of capital market participants, providing a user perspective on the practical implications of IFRS Accounting Standards
- Contribute to the committee's discussions on emerging trends and challenges in financial reporting, such as sustainability and digital reporting
- Attend CMAC meetings, which take place three times a year, either in-person or virtually
- Prepare for and actively participate in meetings, including reviewing and commenting on meeting materials and drafts
- Build relationships with other CMAC members, IASB members, and technical staff to foster a collaborative and productive environment
- Stay up-to-date with developments in IFRS Accounting Standards and capital market trends, applying this knowledge to inform committee discussions
What We Are Looking For
- Professional competence as a user of financial reports, with a strong background in financial analysis and accounting standards
- Ability to represent capital market participants' views, with experience in analyzing financial information and identifying key issues affecting financial reporting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Practical experience in analyzing financial information, with a deep understanding of the implications of IFRS Accounting Standards on financial reporting
- Familiarity with capital market trends and emerging issues, such as sustainability and digital reporting
- Ability to commit to attending CMAC meetings and participating in committee activities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
- Experience working in a global and diverse environment, with a strong understanding of cultural and regulatory differences
- Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Experience working with IFRS Accounting Standards or other accounting standards
