About the Role
The Caretaker role at Mears Group PLC is a field-based position that involves undertaking high-standard caretaking works to housing properties, delivering best-in-class customer service, and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards. As a Caretaker, you will be part of a local team responsible for ensuring that all properties are well-maintained and that any issues are addressed promptly. You will be expected to work independently, using your initiative to identify and resolve problems, and to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.The role involves a range of tasks, including cleaning, repairs, and maintenance, as well as ensuring that all safety protocols are followed and that any necessary checks and assessments are carried out. You will be provided with a company van and fuel card, and will be expected to travel to different locations as required.

What You Will Do
- Undertake caretaking works to housing properties, including cleaning, repairs, and maintenance
- Deliver high-standard customer service to residents and other stakeholders
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that any necessary checks and assessments are carried out
- Use a PDA to record and manage work, including scheduling and reporting
- Identify and resolve problems promptly, using your initiative and communication skills
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure that all properties are well-maintained
- Travel to different locations as required, using a company van and fuel card
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with agreed protocols and time frames
- Proactively manage PPM safety compliance on all blocks, including scheduling and undertaking necessary checks and assessments
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in caretaking, cleaning, or a related field
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good numeracy skills and ability to use a PDA
- Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures
- Ability to work independently and use your initiative
- Full UK driving license and ability to travel to different locations
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing circumstances
- Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Previous experience of working in a similar role or industry
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to use other software or systems, such as scheduling or reporting tools
- Previous experience of working with residents or customers in a similar setting
- Qualifications or training in a related field, such as caretaking or facilities management
