About the Role
The Caretaker role at South East Employers is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking authority and contribute to the smooth operation of their facilities. As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for ensuring the site is safe, secure, and well-maintained, providing a comprehensive caretaking service at the Council Offices in Hailsham. This role requires a high level of reliability, flexibility, and proactive thinking, as you will be the first point of contact for many visitors and employees.The successful candidate will be part of a friendly and supportive team, working together to maintain a positive and inclusive work environment. What You Will Do
- Open and close the building, ensuring all doors and windows are secure
- Monitor and report any faults or issues with the facilities
- Assist with deliveries and ensure all packages are received and distributed correctly
- Set up and monitor the Civic Community Hall for events and meetings
- Provide cover for emergency services, health and safety, and security procedures
- Work collaboratively with the facilities team to maintain a high level of service
- Undertake regular inspections of the site to identify any potential issues
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the site and its facilities
- Provide support for events and meetings, including setting up and clearing away equipment
- Ensure all areas of the site are clean and tidy, reporting any issues to the facilities team
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in caretaking, security, or a similar field
- A full clean driving license
- Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings and late evenings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Ability to lift and move equipment, as required
- Experience of working in a similar environment, such as a council or public sector organization
- Knowledge of facilities management and maintenance procedures
Nice to Have
- Experience of working with facilities management software
- Basic first aid training
- Knowledge of security procedures and protocols
- Experience of working in a customer-facing role
