Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

About the Role

As a CISO, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve defining and executing Cohere's overarching information security strategy, building a modern risk, governance, and compliance program, and leading the security architecture strategy across cloud and on-premises environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the secure development and deployment of AI systems and enterprise solutions.

What You Will Do

• Define and execute Cohere's information security strategy in alignment with business priorities and long-term company growth
• Build a modern risk, governance, and compliance program to identify, assess, and mitigate security risk across all business functions
• Lead the security architecture strategy across Cohere's cloud and on-premises environments
• Build and lead high-performing security teams across multiple disciplines
• Partner with product, modeling, and engineering teams to support the secure development and deployment of AI systems and enterprise solutions
• Navigate risk and represent Cohere in industry discussions
• Reinforce Cohere's commitment to building AI responsibly
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, customers, and partners
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the security landscape

What We Are Looking For

• A proven track record as a CISO or SVP of Security in high-growth technology organizations, ideally companies building or deploying AI systems at scale
• Strong experience developing and executing enterprise security programs
• Deep expertise across cloud security, DevSecOps, enterprise infrastructure, and AI/ML security
• Strong familiarity with modern regulatory frameworks, governance expectations, and compliance requirements
• Experience operating within public company environments and an understanding of the complexities of cybersecurity governance, enterprise risk management, audit readiness, and SEC disclosure expectations
• An advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is preferred
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build trust across organizations and communicate complex trade-offs

• Experience preparing organizations for IPO readiness and scaling security programs through periods of rapid growth
• Experience leading large-scale security organizations, managing budgets, and building strong teams across multiple security disciplines
