About the Role
The Chief Medical Scribe position at Mercor is a remote, contract role that requires a high level of expertise in clinical documentation and CDI query practice. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for building long-horizon documentation tasks that mirror clinical documentation work, creating deterministic rubrics to grade agent performance, and developing scenarios for encounter documentation. Your work will have a direct impact on the quality of patient care and the efficiency of healthcare services.The role entails working independently and asynchronously to ensure task quality and throughput, with a focus on creating high-quality clinical documentation that meets the needs of healthcare providers and patients. What You Will Do
- Build long-horizon documentation tasks that mirror clinical documentation work
- Create deterministic rubrics to grade agent performance against verifiable ground truth
- Develop scenarios for encounter documentation like SOAP notes, H&Ps, and progress notes
- Construct transitions of care scenarios including discharge summaries and medication reconciliation
- Formulate CDI queries triggered by rule-defined documentation gaps with known correct query framing
- Work independently and asynchronously to ensure task quality and throughput
- Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent and high-quality documentation
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in clinical documentation and CDI query practice
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of experience as a medical scribe, CDI specialist, RN, NP, PA, or similar documentation-heavy role
- Expertise in SOAP or H&P authoring, CDI query practice, discharge summary construction, and EHR documentation workflows (Epic, Cerner)
- Comfortable with clinical artifacts: SOAP notes, H&Ps, discharge summaries, CDI queries
- Clear written communication and articulate reasoning step by step
- Ability to encode reasoning into deterministic rubrics
- Experience working with remote teams and asynchronous communication
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-powered documentation tools
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards (HIPAA, ICD-10)
- Certification in medical coding or CDI
