About the Role
As a Chief of Staff at Bjak, you will be responsible for driving the company's finance super app expansion across products, markets, and teams. This is a senior execution role that requires aligning leadership, driving operating cadence, solving cross-functional problems, and turning strategy into measurable progress. You will work closely with the founders, CEOs, leadership teams, and senior external stakeholders to achieve this goal.The role is based in Japan, and you will be expected to work from the Japan office at least 3 days per week. English is the main working language across global teams, so strong English communication skills are required. As a Chief of Staff, you will be the right-hand person to the leadership team, responsible for driving strategic execution and ensuring the company's goals are met.
Bjak's mission is to help people get more from their money every day. The company started in 2019 as a mobile-first insurance platform and has since expanded to become the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia. Today, Bjak is looking to expand its services to include spending, saving, investing, exchanging, and traveling, making it a finance super app.
What You Will Do
- Drive strategic execution across finance super app priorities
- Build and manage operating rhythm, OKRs, leadership updates, decision tracking, and accountability
- Coordinate major workstreams across product, engineering, licensing, market expansion, partnerships, finance, and operations
- Prepare concise decision memos, board/leadership materials, execution plans, and performance reviews
- Identify gaps, risks, and dependencies before they become serious blockers
- Help leadership make sharper trade-offs on people, capital, product, and market priorities
- Own special projects that require senior judgment and cross-functional authority
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including founders, CEOs, and senior external stakeholders
- Analyze data and provide insights to inform business decisions
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and apply this knowledge to improve the company's services
What We Are Looking For
- Strong operator with experience driving strategic execution across teams
- Excellent judgment, communication, prioritization, and follow-through
- Ability to work with founders, CEOs, leadership teams, and senior external stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity with limited guidance
- Ability to go from high-level strategy to detailed execution without losing quality
- Strong writing, business analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in startups, consulting, strategy, operations, fintech, financial services, or regional expansion is a strong advantage
- Proficiency in Excel and other productivity tools
- Strong English communication skills
