About the Role

The Chief of Staff to the General Manager of Advertising at Instacart is a critical leadership position that requires a unique blend of strategic acumen, operational expertise, and collaborative spirit. What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business strategies to drive growth and revenue in the Advertising business
  • Foster and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders, including sales, marketing, product, and finance teams
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to define and prioritize business objectives, and develop plans to achieve them
  • Design and implement operational processes and systems to support the Ads organization, including budgeting, forecasting, and metrics-driven decision-making
  • Provide strategic counsel and support to the General Manager, including preparing for meetings, developing presentations, and conducting research
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely and effective execution
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's goals, challenges, and opportunities, and identify areas for improvement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and vendors, including advertising agencies, media companies, and technology providers
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and growth
  • Work closely with the finance team to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in consulting, corporate tech, or advertising/media, with meaningful exposure to executive audiences
  • Strong grounding in digital advertising, retail media, or adjacent businesses, with the ability to engage credibly on the substance and process
  • High EQ and a track record of building trusted advisor relationships with senior leaders
  • Exceptional analytical ability, with the ability to take complex, ambiguous challenges and turn them into structured, actionable plans
  • Demonstrated project management chops, with experience managing multiple high-stakes workstreams simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce crisp executive-ready materials and represent the GM's voice with fidelity
  • Strong business acumen, with experience developing and executing business strategies, and analyzing market trends and competitor activity
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong sense of urgency and adaptability

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, with a proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Instacart's products and services, or experience working in the grocery delivery or e-commerce space
  • Knowledge of digital advertising platforms, including Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and other social media platforms
  • Experience working with data analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Excel, and SQL
